Historic Manitou Springs

>> Thursday, October 8, 2009

The town of Manitou Springs is tucked within the foothills of Pikes Peak.
Manitou Springs is known as Saratoga of the West.

On the day that John came back from the field, we headed out to Manitou Springs.
He wanted to show me the infamous Manitou Incline where he did his PT once. When we got to the parking lot on top left, there were a lot of cars. People were either hiking the Bar Trail or climbing the Incline.

We had to go up the dirt trail in order to get to the Incline.

Finally the infamous Incline is in view.
As you can see in the picture, it becomes very steep as you go up.
It's 1.6 miles long and it's as steep as 50 degrees angle.
It will give you the pain in the knees.
Now I can say that I saw the incline, too. And that's good enough for me.

This is the downtown of Manitou Springs.

It was much warmer down here than up at the Incline.
We didn't get to explore the springs throughout the town. We just did not have time.
We will have to make a few more trips down here to see the Manitou Cliff Dwellings,
the Garden of the Gods, and Old Colorado City.
