California Market Restaurant

>> Saturday, April 28, 2012

It was one of  those places we had to try.
People were raving about this restaurant as the most beautiful restaurant around this area.
But if we were to go here, it better be on a sunny day, I was told.
The coastal view is what makes this restaurant so attractive to the locals and the tourists as well.

Though we waited, tried to plan it well and make the best of it, and intentionally pushed aside 'not-so-bright' days, eventually we chose one wet and dreary day as the day we would visit this beautiful restaurant.
"We shall enjoy regardless," was our attitude.
But..., but... California Market Restaurant was closed for renovation.
Instead, we were served at Pacific's Edge, the more upscale and expensive restaurant
that is open usually only for dinner.

So we ate our lunch at Pacific's Edge Restaurant.
The food was good, and the view was awesome.
Yes, rainy and dreary, but we still had a wonderful time eating our lunch here.

I don't know when they will finish renovation, if we go next time, we will be eating at California Market Restaurant.

Driving Hwy 1 south, make a sharp left turn to highlands dr, and drive up to the road.

Pacific Grove, Feast for Eyes

Stunning beauty!
Feast for eyes!
The cold, windy and dreary weather kept me inside for a while.
But I knew soon I had to be out there with my camera to witness the most amazingly beautiful magic carpet of brilliant fuchsia ice plants by the ocean, that no photos do it justice.
Along the rugged shoreline of Pacific Grove, against the backdrop of deep blue ocean, the vivid fuchsia ice plants is truly stunning.

When I said I'm waiting for spring here, in my mind I meant these ice plants.
I barely caught the sight of it last year, my first year here.
At a place where there seems to be no clear distinction of the seasons, these awesome plants are clearly marking the the beginning of a new season in my mind, that the spring has come.

People young and old, with their kids and cannine friend are bicycling all over.

This ground covering ice plants forms a ground-hugging carpet, and they bloom every season faithfully.
